Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh commends and celebrates the Southwest PA Says No More campaign and the Father's Day Pledge to End Gender Violence and thanks the organizations that have come together to make them possible; and, NOW, THEREFORE BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Friday, June 19th 2015 to be "Father's Day Pledge to End Gender Violence Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, domestic violence and sexual assault are completely preventable crimes that effect far too many of our society's most vulnerable individuals; and,
 
WHEREAS, the FISA Foundation, in partnership with the Pennsylvania Coalition Against Domestic Violence and other important partners have come together to create the Southwest PA Says No More campaign, with the goal of showcasing the important prevention-focused work happening in our City and region, and to make it easier for individuals and organizations to take action to stop gender-based violence; and,
 
WHEREAS, as part of the campaign, FISA, PCADV and partners are asking for individuals to join their local activists and leaders by signing on to the Father's Day Pledge to End Gender Violence, a pledge which is seeks to educate and engage fathers and male care-takers in the prevention of gender-based violence; and,  
 
WHEREAS, on Friday, June 19th 2015 at 12pm, FISA, PCADV and partners are holding a public pledge signing ceremony in the courtyard of the Allegheny County Courthouse, hoping to leverage the support of local leaders and elected officials; and,
