WHEREAS, Mike Woshner has been a resident of Carrick for 68 years, where he has served the community through active involvement in community groups and in the Saint Basil Parish Community, and has made an impact that cannot be quantified; and,
WHEREAS, Mr. Woshner is a lifelong member of the local Saint Basil Parish Community, where he has been actively involved in parish ministries, including helping those in poverty and most in need in our community; and,
WHEREAS, Mr. Woshner has dedicated decades of his life to serving Carrick, including several years spent as board member and treasurer of the Carrick Community Council, two years as a mentor in the "Generations Together" program at Pittsburgh Carrick High School, 13 years on the committee and judging team for Carrick Goes Gardening event, 16 years coordinating volunteers, planting, and maintaining the Veteran's Monument garden on Parkfield Street, and seven years coordinating volunteers, planting, and maintaining the Mother's Statue on Overbrook Boulevard; and,
WHEREAS, Mr. Woshner has coordinated a block watch on his own block where he has acted on his civic role to report and control crime, looking out for his neighbors and community; and,
WHEREAS, Mr. Woshner's generosity has extended beyond the neighborhood of Carrick to surrounding communities, where he has spent three years as the Volunteer Coordinator and Maintainer of six Western Pennsylvania Conservancy gardens in Carrick, Mount Oliver, and Knoxville; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Pittsburgh thanks his family for sharing his calm enthusiasm and hardworking nature with our beloved City; and,

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh thanks Mr. Woshner for his lifelong dedication to the Carrick community; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare June 2, 2015, to be "Mike Woshner Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.
