Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend Mr. Tripodi on his exceptional work in integrating arts and humanities into his curriculum at Blackhawk High School; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Tuesday, May 26, 2015, to be "Jeff Tripodi Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, The Roy A. Hunt Foundation award for Commitment to Education in Arts and Humanities, is given annually to an educator or educators who have demonstrated a sustained commitment to arts and humanities in tandem with the Frick Art and Historical Center's education programs and have successfully integrated the arts into students' learning experiences; and,
 
WHEREAS, Teachers have been encouraged to, and rewarded for, integrating art and history into their students' learning experience and for using the resources of the Frick. Thousands of students have been able to participate in enrichment activities at the Frick that foster their curiosity and love of learning; and,
 
WHEREAS, The Frick Art and Historical Center will present Mr. Jeff Tripodi, who is the Gifted Education Coordinator at Blackhawk High School, the 2015 Roy A. Hunt Award Foundation Award for Commitment to Education in the Arts and Humanities; and,
 
WHEREAS, Mr. Tripodi completed his undergraduate work at Syracuse University and earned his Master of Arts in the Teaching from the University of Pittsburgh, where he has also won the Ernest B. Dorow Award for excellence in social studies education; and,    
 
WHEREAS, Mr. Tripodi currently teaches four other courses, two of which he created, in addition to U.S. History. The courses he created and continues to develop are Legal Oratory and Debate, while teaching Anthropology, Honors, and American History; and,
