Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby voice its appreciation for, and depth of gratitude to, Christina Howell for almost a decade of her impactful, inspiring, and selfless efforts to her neighborhood, as well as for her undeniable role in the implementation and success of the Bloomfield Saturday Market; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Saturday, May 30, 2015, to be "Christina Howell Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Christina Howell, Interim Executive Director of the Bloomfield Development Corporation, has translated her love and admiration of Bloomfield into dedicated hard work, persistence, and visible pride for her beloved neighborhood; and,
 
WHEREAS, these defining characteristics are applauded and appreciated, as her commitment to service for others has repeatedly been exhibited throughout her nine years of residency, where, long before assuming her current professional role, she has selflessly labored to improve her community and the lives of those around her; and,
 
WHEREAS, after years of contributions as a volunteer, Christina started her work with the BDC as a consultant, bringing the idea for the Bloomfield Saturday Market to life, which, as a result of her undeniable dedication and leadership capability, culminated in a level of impact that spurred her to devote herself to her neighborhood as the BDC's full time Program Manager of the Bloomfield Saturday Market; and,
 
WHEREAS, as a result of Christina's sacrifice and selflessness, and a team of neighborhood volunteers, the Bloomfield Saturday Market has matured into a cherished public asset, through which each Saturday over seven hundred residents and visitors have had ready access to fresh produce, delectable food options, live music, and fun activities; and,
 
WHEREAS, the Market has promoted business and community-mindedness throughout the Bloomfield community, which finds itself in eager anticipation of the Market's second season, which is set to begin May 30, 2015; and,
 
WHEREAS, the 2015 season of the Bloomfield Saturday Market will expand to offer SNAP benefits programs, ensuring that all residents of Bloomfield and surrounding areas are empowered with access to healthy and fresh foods, regardless of income level, further inspiring her neighbors to imagine additional ways to strive to similar levels of impact; and,
 
WHEREAS, Christina's successful implementation of the Bloomfield Saturday Market extends throughout the City of Pittsburgh; and,
