Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby honor Virginia Helterbran on the occasion of her 80th birthday and recognizes her commitment to her family and community; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Thursday, April 30, 2015, to be "Virginia Helterbran Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Virginia Helterbran was born on April 30, 1935, to William Stanley and Leitha Babette McIsaac and raised in the Sheraden neighborhood of the City of Pittsburgh; and,
 
WHEREAS, Virginia graduated from Langley High School in January 1953 and married William C. Helterbran on April 10, 1953, and together they have raised six children: Bill, Debbie, the late Dennis, Jeff, Greg, and Rick; and,  
 
WHEREAS, she was very involved with her children's activities which included Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, various PTA organizations, Langley Band parents and anything else their children wanted to do; and,
 
WHEREAS, in doing so, she has instilled in her children the spirit of volunteerism which is evident by the service they provide to various groups such as the Sheraden Community Council, Sheraden Kiwanis, and Sheraden Baseball Association, just to name a few; and,
 
WHEREAS, Virginia is a lifetime member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church where she has served in different areas such as member of council, former Sunday School Superintendent, church choir, and continues to serve in areas such as the Trinity Lutheran Church Women group, which plans and runs fundraisers and are very involved in community outreach programs; and,
 
WHEREAS, in addition to her church, Virginia also keeps herself active by attending events at the Sheraden Senior Center; and,  
 
WHEREAS, we help celebrate Virginia's 80th Birthday with her 13 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; and,
