Title: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh commends and celebrates the accomplishments of Justice Debra Todd, and thanks her for her service to the people of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the City of Pittsburgh, and does hereby declare Tuesday, April 28th, 2015, to be "Justice Debra Todd Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, on Tuesday, April 28th, 2015, the Amen Corner will be hosting their 55th Annual Judicial Reception at the Carlton Restaurant in downtown Pittsburgh; and,
 
WHEREAS, during this year's event, the Amen Corner will be celebrating the Honorable Debra Todd, Justice of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, as the recipient of the Judge Robert E. Dauer Award for Judicial Leadership & Excellence; and,
 
WHEREAS, Justice Todd is a stalwart member of the Southwestern Pennsylvania law and justice community, earning her undergraduate degree from Chatham University and attending the University of Pittsburgh School of Law before working as an in-house litigation attorney for U.S. Steel Corporation and maintaining a trial practice in the City of Pittsburgh from 1987 through 1999 with an emphasis in complex civil litigation; and,
 
WHEREAS, After serving as a Judge on the Superior Court of Pennsylvania from 2000 through 2007, Justice Todd was elected to the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania in November 2007, and commenced service on the Court in January 2008; and,
 
WHEREAS, in a reflection of her many years of service to the people of the Commonwealth, Justice Todd has received numerous awards and accolades from various groups and organizations in our city and the wider region, including being named the Outstanding Elected Democratic Woman of the year by the Pennsylvania Federation of Democratic Women, the Legal Intelligencer Women in the Profession 2007-2008 Woman of the Year Award, the Cornerstone Award in Law from Chatham University, the Philip Werner Amram Award for professional excellence, and the University of Pittsburgh Distinguished Alumni Award, among near countless others; and,
