Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend Tom Palmosina for his dedication to the Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority, the City of Pittsburgh and its residents and congratulates him for 42 years of steadfast service; BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Tuesday, April 28, 2015, to be "Tom Palmosina Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, after 42 years of service, Tom Palmosina, Director of Water Operations with the Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority, will retire May 1, 2015; and,
 
WHEREAS, Mr. Palmosina joined the City of Pittsburgh Department of Water in 1973 as a Utility Pipeman Foreman and moved up the ranks working under the leadership of 7 Mayors and 14 Directors; and,  
 
WHEREAS, as Director, he has led the City and the Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority through several emergencies, most notably: the Ashland Oil Spill, Buckeye Oil Spill, and Snowmageddon, spearheaded the Mission Yard Pilot, and contributed to all of the major developments in the City of Pittsburgh during this period; and,
 
WHEREAS, Tom, who resides in Oakwood, graduated from Bishop Canevin High School; attended Robert Morris University and became very involved in community organizations such as the Oakwood Civic Organization and the Westwood/Oakwood Athletic Association, formerly known as the Westwood/Oakwood Recreation Association, and was steward of the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy garden in Oakwood, just to name a few; and,
 
WHEREAS, Tom is the member of many professional organizations, and is the Ward Chairman for the City of Pittsburgh's 28th Ward of which he was committeeman for the past 25 years; in addition, he was the recipient of numerous awards from past Mayors, a State Representative, and Executive Directors; and,
 
WHEREAS, Tom's keen attention to detail and extensive knowledge of the Distribution System has created a strong union between fellow employees, city officials, and contractors, which made him a great asset to the City of Pittsburgh; and,
