WHEREAS, Greenfield School, known as Pittsburgh Greenfield, is a Pre K to 8 neighborhood school drawing a diverse student population from six surrounding communities which makes it a very culturally balanced school. The goal of Greenfield School is to prepare students for The Pittsburgh Promise , believing that all students can learn and achieve ; and,
WHEREAS, besides academics, Greenfield offers competitive sports programs and this year, Greenfield assembled a group of dedicated, driven and committed players from a small pool of only 116 middle school students to compete in the Pittsburgh School District basketball season. Playing Mifflin, Obama, Sterrett, UPrep, Westinghouse, Arsenal, Sunnyside CAPA, South Hills, PCA and Colfax, with teams drawing from student populations of 400-600, Greenfield finished with a winning record of 11 and 1, losing only to Colfax but beating them in the final Championship game ; and,
WHEREAS, this "Hoosiers" like season was created with great pride by 11 hard working student athletes coached by James Paschl. They are Rayshawn Adams, Robert Clifford, Maurice Cole, Jacob Crum, Anthony DeMarco, Jordan Fluker, Davontae Garner, Justin Heiner, Dontae Klein, Ismail Miloua and Zachary Weber. Rounding out the team effort are Manager Jared Dell, Scorekeeper Pat Gallagher, Principal Eric Rosenthall and a cadre of dedicated parents and a proud Greenfield community ; and,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby congratulate the Greenfield School Middle School Boys Basketball Team for playing the 2014-2015 Middle School BB season with extraordinary heart and dedication , for their team effort in and out of school while keeping up grades and demonstrating good citizenship and for bringing home to Greenfield the City Middle School Championship; and,
