WHEREAS, the Congress of Neighboring Communities (CONNECT) is an organization that promotes collaboration between the City of Pittsburgh and thirty-six neighboring municipalities; and,
WHEREAS, the mission of CONNECT is to identify common public policy challenges and advocate for collective change on behalf of the urban core; and,
WHEREAS, CONNECT member municipalities work collaboratively to address these issues for the benefit of not only the communities but also civic and community partners; and
WHEREAS, CONNECT has made important progress advancing policy issue areas including sewer regionalization, blight and abandonment, transportation, energy efficiency and others since its last Congress in 2013; and,
WHEREAS, CONNECT is celebrating its sixth Congress on April 2, 2015, wherein the membership will adopt resolutions that will address policy challenges facing our region and set the agenda for future work.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize CONNECT for its unwavering commitment for improving inter-municipal cooperation and creating a better life for the citizens of our region; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare April 2, 2015 "CONNECT Day" in the City of Pittsburgh."
