WHEREAS, in 2008, the non-profit Get Involved! was founded by dedicated community leader and County Councilman Tom Baker; and,
WHEREAS, Get Involved!'s mission is to provide leadership and development programs and initiatives that engage, energize, educate, and empower students, young professionals, and lifelong learners to make a positive difference in their communities and to become civically engaged; and,
WHEREAS, Get Involved!'s hope is that student leaders will make better career transitions by becoming or staying active; and,
WHEREAS, Get Involved! inspires, educates, and springs interested participants into action by coordinating courses, events, and seminars focused on vitally essential issues such as service, leadership, and philanthropy; and,
WHEREAS, Get Involved! organizes Service Summits, which bring together hundreds of students, young professionals, and community leaders to learn from keynote speakers about best practices and strategies to make a larger difference in the region; and,
WHEREAS, Get Involved! has coordinated four Service Summits in Pittsburgh, two Service Summits in Harrisburg, PA, and the first ever Washington D.C. Service Summit; and,
WHEREAS, the 2015 Service Summit will be held on March 25, 2015, at Carlow University, and will honor award winners in the non-profit, business, and governmental sectors who dedicate their time and talent to community organizations and who are making a positive difference in the region:
