Title: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize and commend the Pittsburgh Knit & Crochet Festival and all of those involved, and recognizes Friday, March 27th 2015 to be Pittsburgh Knit & Crochet Festival Day in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, the Pittsburgh Knit & Crochet Festival is coming to the Westin Convention Center Pittsburgh Hotel for a three day event March 27th through 29th, 2015; and,

WHEREAS, the event, now in its 11th year, has recently chosen to move into the City of Pittsburgh from its former suburban location and will next year move to the David L. Lawrence Convention Center, merging with The Pittsburgh Creative Arts Festival; and,

WHEREAS, the festival will include over 70 booths and tables, highlighting a variety of craftspeople and artists with exhibits, teaching sessions, and special events to match; and,

WHEREAS, the Festival attracts people of all ages from across the tri-state region and beyond, growing to include visitors from across the United States and Canada, bringing broad attention and economic benefit to our city and the great people who live and work in our neighborhoods; and,

WHEREAS, numerous groups and organizations from the Pittsburgh community have taken a charitable role in putting together this great event, including the Salvation Army and their Annual Fabric Fair charity event; Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh, who will be coordinating a project and providing materials and staff so that all festival attendees can make crafts for donation to area children in critical care; and the Warm Up America Lounge, which will be offering materials and staff for festival attendees to make blankets for donation to local Pittsburgh shelters; and,

WHEREAS, in celebrating this event special recognition should be dedicated to sisters Barbara Grossman and Ann Szilagyi, who along with many others help to bring together the festival and have dedicated countless hours over the last 10 years to build the festival into the success it has become today; and,
