Be it resolved by the Council of the City of Pittsburgh as Follows:

Section 1. Resolution authorizing the Mayor, Director of the Department of Public Safety and the Chief of Police, on behalf of the City of Pittsburgh, to enter into a grant agreement with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) in the amount of two hundred and two thousand six hundred forth-five dollars and zero cents ($202,645.00).
This grant will enable the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police - Commercial Vehicle Unit to participate with other law enforcement agencies to increase the number of roadside inspections, distracted driver and seatbelt compliance checks, and passenger transportation safety checks in the City of Pittsburgh. The goal of the grant is to reduce the number of crashes involving trucks and buses, reduce the amount crashes caused by distracted drivers, and to increase compliance with the seat belt law. The Federal Motor Carrier Administration will provide a maximum of $202,645 over a one-year-period for the costs associated with enforcement efforts. The City of Pittsburgh will provide $50,662 in the form of In-Kind match for the costs of two (2) on-duty officers assigned to the Commercial Vehicle Unit.

The grant agreement shall be approved as to form and substance by the City Solicitor and monies shall be deposited in the JDE Job Number 2329400145.45505.00.
