WHEREAS, Barbara J. Samson affectionately known as Bj, has been active in the Allegheny County Democratic Party for over forty years. She is currently the committee woman for the 11th ward 4th district for the City of Pittsburgh. Having been a candidate for several elected positions and appointed to serve on the Pittsburgh Human Relations Committee, she is most proud of starting her democratic party experience years ago as a PA Young Democrats National Committee Woman; and,
WHEREAS, Bj was employed by Allegheny County for over twenty years. She is currently working part-time as a school base outpatient therapist. Bj has campaigned for democratic candidates running for Presidents, Senator, Governor, Congress, Mayor, and Judge; and,
WHEREAS, Bj is proud to have volunteered and worked for the National Democratic Convention in Florida, Georgia and New York. Those memories have encouraged her to stay active with Allegheny County Democratic Committee. and,
WHEREAS, Bj was last employed by the late Honorable Lieutenant Governor Catherine Baker Knoll until her death. Catherine Baker Knoll was the first woman to be elected to the position of Lieutenant Governor in Pennsylvania history. After serving with Lt. Governor Knoll it is an honor for Bj to receive 2015 Catherine Baker Knoll Award; and,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby congratulate Bj Samson for receiving the 2015 Catherine Baker Knoll Award ; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Tuesday, February 24, 2015, to be " Bj Samson Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.
