Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare February 17, 2015 to be "Judge Livingstone M. Johnson Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Judge Livingstone M. Johnson, the first African American to earn Eagle Scout in his troop and in Wilkinsburg, PA, will be honored by the Boy Scouts of America Laurel Highlands Council with the creation of the Livingstone M. Johnson Legacy Award at this year's 26th Annual Whitney M. Young Jr. Services Awards dinner on February 19 at the Westin Convention Center; and,
 
WHEREAS, the Whitney M. Young Jr. Services Awards dinner is a fundraiser attended by community and business leaders to help support the Boy Scouts' efforts to reach scouting in low income neighborhoods, as a fund to raise $25,000 in honor of Judge Johnson will be designated to ensure inner-city low income scouts have a lasting scouting experience for years to come; and,
 
WHEREAS, the honor bestowed upon Judge Johnson is well deserved, having been an active member of the scouts for over 70 years, earning the Silver badge award in 2010, the highest honor a volunteer can earn within a local council, and having been awarded the Boy Scouts' "Distinguished Eagle Scout" award in 2008, a distinction only a few Eagle Scouts in the country receive; and,  
 
WHEREAS, Judge Johnson proudly served in the military during the Korean War where he was a navigator/radar bombardier for the US Air Force, having flown in 58 combat missions with the Tuskegee Airmen, where he earned the distinguished Flying Cross; and,
 
WHEREAS, the City of Pittsburgh duly recognizes the lifelong work of Judge Livingstone M. Johnson, who became an accomplished attorney and reached as high as Pittsburgh Common Pleas Judge before his retirement in 2007, as he has excelled and left a lasting legacy in all aspects of his life;
