Title: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize and honor Forest Hodges for his dedication to public service in his personal and professional life, and hereby declares the week of December 14-20 to be “Forrest Hodges Week” in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Officer Forest Hodges, a lifelong resident of the North Side, spent twenty (20) years in the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police serving the People of Pittsburgh with great pride and bravery to help make the City a safer and more livable place for all; and,

WHEREAS, prior to joining the Bureau, Officer Hodges served in the U.S Navy, where he advanced from an E-1 enlisted rate, up to an E-6 Petty Officer before receiving an honorable discharge; and,

WHEREAS, Officer Hodges began his career with the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police in June of 1994, and was assigned to walking a beat on Federal St. and East Ohio St., in addition to patrolling the North Side in a Zone 1 car; and,

WHEREAS, after several years patrolling the streets, Officer Hodges was assigned to the Crime Analysis Division, and was later appointed to Community Relations Officer; a position he proudly held for over a decade; and,

WHEREAS, Officer Hodges attended countless community and public safety meetings on the North Side, where he served as an integral nexus between North Side residents and Zone 1 Police. Officer Hodges became well known throughout the North Side for his tireless work ethic, dependability, and his selfless commitment to serve the People of the City of Pittsburgh; and,

WHEREAS, Officer Hodges' commitment to service often extended beyond his official duties as a law enforcement officer. For several years he has spent Thanksgiving Day delivering turkey dinners to families in need with his fellow police officers, through the 'Get Stuffed with Love' program; and,

WHEREAS, On October 3, 2014, after twenty (20) years of excellent service, Officer Hodges proudly retired from the City of Pittsburgh Bureau of Police. Selfless work from dedicated professionals likes Officer Hodges and officers like him, help to make our city a safer place for all to work, play, and live. He will be sorely missed; and,
