WHEREAS, after forty years of dedicated community service in our city, Bill Neal's Champion Enterprises recently closed its doors; and,
WHEREAS, instead, Neal founded Achieving Greatness Inc., which provides services, including community development, consulting, advertising, marketing, promotions and special events for Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, and Western PA communities; and,
WHEREAS, Achieving Greatness Inc. will continue to create and present the types of quality programs that bring us regional, state, and national recognition, and make our region proud; and,
WHEREAS, through Champion Enterprises and Achieving Greatness Inc., Bill Neal has assisted more than 300 student athletes into college, honored more than 1,000 communities and residents through Willie "Pops" Stargell MVP Awards Banquet, fed more than 4,000 senior citizens via the Rev. Duane Darkins Memorial Thanksgiving Dinner, given away more than 20,000 toys and clothing items for Christmas, and provided more than 50,000 boys and girls and young adults with quality athletic and recreation programs through the nationally recognized Connie Hawkins Summer Basketball Classic, Franco Harris Football Camps, and clinics, lectures, and special events; and,
WHEREAS, on Saturday, December 13, Achieving Greatness Inc. will present the first annual Achieving Greatness Awards, including the Willie Stargell Pittsburgh and Allegheny County MVP Awards, the Connie Hawkins Summer Basketball League Hall of Fame Inductions, and the historic placement of the Pittsburgh City League All-Sports Hall of Fame Inductions; and,
WHEREAS, this is the first Pittsburgh City League All Sports Hall of Fame, recognizing and honoring the best of the best in Pittsburgh City league athletics.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare December 13, 2014 to be "Achieving Greatness Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.
