Title: BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare November 6, 2014, to be “GREENFIELD VETERANS DAY” in the City of Pittsburgh.

BODY
WHEREAS, Pittsburgh has a long and proud  history of supporting military members and their families ranging from the significant importance of Arsenal Park in the Civil War, to the commitment to veterans today through recognized excellence in higher education and  greater access  to health care; and,
WHEREAS, fifteen percent of Western Pennsylvanians are veterans, including over seven percent, or 89,000 residents of Allegheny County, and 33,000 residents of Pittsburgh; and,
WHEREAS, on November 8, 2014, Pittsburgh in conjunction with Allegheny County will hold its 95th annual Veterans Days parade in Downtown Pittsburgh, which is one of the largest in the nation, and will feature nearly two dozen Western Pennsylvania high school marching bands, local military units and other civic organizations; and,
WHEREAS, a grateful Nation will commemorate Veterans Day on November 11, 2014, in solemn ceremonies, including the President of the United States laying a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknowns in Arlington; and,
WHEREAS, senior centers throughout the City of Pittsburgh are paying tribute to their local veterans and recognizing them for their devotion to their country.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize and commend Greenfield's own Veterans for their service; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh extends gratitude to the families and communities that support these brave men and women for making a commitment to service before self; and,
