Be it resolved by the Council of the City of Pittsburgh as follows:

Section 1. The Director of the Department of Public Safety and the Acting Chief of Police, on behalf of the City of Pittsburgh, are hereby authorized to enter into a grant agreement with the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency, Project Safe Neighborhoods-Western District, in the amount of ninety-nine thousand seven hundred dollars and zero cents ($99,700.00). The goal of this grant is to conduct an extensive investigation into the criminal organizations and gangs operating in the Homewood and Wilkinsburg areas who are responsible for illegal drug activity and firearm crimes, and to successfully prosecute offenders in order to reduce violence and make these neighborhoods safe for residents and businesses. The Pittsburgh Bureau of Police (PBP) will use a multi-jurisdictional task force to investigate, disrupt and prosecute gangs operating in the Homewood and Wilkinsburg areas in order to reduce the level of violent criminal activity. This will be a joint investigation between the FBI; Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) Task Force; Pittsburgh Bureau of Police; Allegheny County Sheriff's Office; Pennsylvania State Police; Wilkinsburg Police Department and the Munhall Police Department. Additionally, a portion of the grant will be used to purchase equipment and vehicle rentals in order to support law enforcement during investigations.
