Title: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh hereby acknowledges the hard work and dedication of Zachary Tyler Neal in achieving the rank of Eagle Scout; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council hereby declares Tuesday, October 28, 2014, “Zachary Tyler Neal Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Zachary Tyler Neal, a native Pittsburgher and Committee Member of Troop 6, Screamin' Eagles, Conestoga District, Boy Scouts of America, began his scouting career in the 4th grade as a Webelo 1 of Pack 601, and;

WHEREAS, in the fifth grade Zachary crossed over into Boy Scout Troop 6 where he would hold the positions of Patrol Leader, Den Chief, and Librarian, and earned the Ad-Altare Dei Religion award, along with being elected to The Order of the Arrow, the Scouting National Honor Society, and;

WHEREAS, Zachary has placed significant importance on his community, school, and church, St. Pius X, where he has been an alter server for nine years, and;

WHEREAS, during his high school career at Brashear High School, Zachary played soccer each of his four years, having been named as captain his senior year as well as running track and playing on the ultimate frisbee team, and;

WHEREAS, Zachary has been on High Honor roll since Kindergarten, he was the Vice President of his school's National Honor Society, and;

WHEREAS, Zachary participated in science and quiz bowls, where he represented his school on their Hometown High-Q team, and;

WHEREAS, Zachary is a 7-time Carson Scholarship winner, now a freshman at Duquesne University, where he is studying a demanding curriculum of nursing, and;

WHEREAS, Zachary ensured his Eagle Scout project would benefit his parish, he planned and organized a remodel of the chapel in the school, through fundraising, the project was able to remove outdated chalk boards, hang drywall, replace ceiling fans and overhead lights, painting of walls, pews, and ceiling, along with hanging a mural painted by his sister, and;

WHEREAS, Zachary would like to thank everyone whose guidance and support helped him to reach his goal: his family, friends, neighbors and Troop 6, and;
