Title: BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare October 28, 2014 to be “Urban Design Associates Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, 50 years ago, long-time friends and innovators, David Lewis and Ray Gindroz, envisioned a world where neighborhoods, towns, and cities could come together and forge a thriving community in which residents could realize their dreams of a better future; and,
WHEREAS, David Lewis and Ray Gindroz founded Urban Design Associates in 1964 in order to achieve this vision; and, together, over the last 50 years, they have helped drive Pittsburgh to become the “Most Livable City;” and,
WHEREAS, Urban Design Associates employs a collaborative design process founded upon the advice of expert consultants in fields such as economics, landscape architecture, traffic and mobility, and, most importantly, the desires of residents from our communities; and,
WHEREAS, Urban Design Associates' unique approach to neighborhood development has created a centralized method for use in the enrichment of communities-large or small, urban or rural, new or established; and,
WHEREAS, the approach taken by Urban Design Associates to build the perfect community has been adopted by many national and international urban development firms and is founded upon the essential idea of “Democracy in Action;” and,
WHEREAS, to celebrate 50 years of hard work towards the creation of an enduring yet ever changing blueprint that demonstrates how communities can best connect to nature, to local traditions, and with each other, Urban Design Associates will be holding an exhibit of their works called “UDA @50-Democracy in Action” from October 28 through November 6 at the Carnegie Museum of Arts, Grand Staircase Mezzanine.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize Urban Design Associates and the great work they have done in helping create the beautiful landscape of our city; and,
