BODY
WHEREAS, in January of 2004 a group of interested citizens began the process to reopen the St. Clair Athletic Association to be used as a recreation space for neighborhood senior citizens; and,
WHEREAS, St. Clair Athletic Association offers a variety of social and recreational activities for seniors and their community including bingo, cards, "Wii Bowling", and group exercise; and,
WHEREAS, the successful reopening of this community asset was made possible by the tireless efforts of volunteer organizers such as Mary LaVelle, Debbie Morgan, Arlene Trost, among many others, as well as the generous financial contributions of community leaders, including Kathleen & Matt Cogley; and,
WHEREAS, the community of Arlington has always worked to enhance the lives of the senior citizens that have for so long called this neighborhood their home, in doing so helping to make the neighborhood of Arlington, City Council District 3, and the City of Pittsburgh as a whole an even greater place to live; and,
WHEREAS, this wonderful neighborhood organization is celebrating 10 years of successful community stewardship and service;
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend and congratulate the St. Clair Athletic Association on its 10th anniversary; and,

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Saturday, September 20th to be St. Clair Athletic Association Day in the City of Pittsburgh.
