WHEREAS, Women in Bio (WIB) is an organization for professionals committed to promoting careers, leadership, and entrepreneurship for women in the life sciences. Members belong to biotech and pharma companies, universities and institutes, law and accounting firms, marketing and public relations firms, CRO's and CMO's; and,

WHEREAS, The Founder of WIB, Robbie Melton, has provided a forum for women to come together to celebrate and support each other's successes while creating a dynamic and invaluable forum for the local community; and,

WHEREAS, Over the past 10 years WIB has experienced over 250% increase in membership and currently has 11 chapters worldwide. This growth is made possible because WIB partners with life science industry leaders to establish new WIB changes; and,

WHEREAS; In 2012, WIB launched a local chapter here in Pittsburgh. Its founding members are Lynn Brusco, Babs Carryer, Dottie Clower and Pat Rogan. WHEREAS On September 22, 2014 The Pittsburgh Chapter of WIB will recognize women entrepreneurs who will showcase their solutions to women investors who have a strong track record of supporting them. The event is called P.O.W.E.R. which stands for Pittsburgh Outstanding Women Entrepreneur Rally. This rally will spotlight twelve local women-led life sciences companies ranging from pre-company status to mature-company status; and,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Pittsburgh commends the WIB for their support of emerging women leaders and optimizing opportunities for women to achieve the greatest potential in their careers and professional development; and,
