WHEREAS, Camille Redman was born and raised in the West End neighborhood of the City of Pittsburgh; and,
WHEREAS, Camille's mother Dawn served as a role model to her kids volunteering at Westwood School, the Westwood/Oakwood Athletic Association and other community events and enjoyed helping others, which is no wonder her daughter Camille grew up having the same qualities of helping others and giving of her time; and,
WHEREAS, while Camille was vacationing with her mother, she was alerted to dangerous waters and news that there was a missing person and possible drowning victim as rescue personnel met on the beach; and,
WHEREAS, being a confident swimmer, Camille decided to help by going towards the shore looking for any signs of a person in distress and she attracted others to help her and soon a chain of people formed in and near the water; and,
WHEREAS, after a short time, she noticed him from the ocean waters so Camille and another man attempted to go out to where they saw him, but the current was too rough; when she saw the possible drowning victim again from the shore, she alerted the lifeguards to search in that vicinity; and,
WHEREAS, seeing the helpless man again, she immediately assisted the lifeguards in showing them the victim's location, hastening his rescue and assisting in the saving of his life; and,
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend Camille Redman for her quick reactions and caring nature and her mother for being a great role model to her children; and,

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Wednesday, September 3, 2014, to be "Camille Redman Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.
