Title: BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare , September 12-14, 2014, to be “Lebanese-American Days” in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, the Lebanese-American community of Our Lady of Victory Maronite Catholic Church has served Pittsburgh and Western Pennsylvania for more than a century since its founding in 1902; and,
WHEREAS, the story goes that 70 Lebanese were among the survivors of the Titanic and the first to arrive in Pittsburgh where they have served our country in many ways including serving with the armed forces in both World War I and II  at which time many earned awards for valor and bravery; and,
WHEREAS; members of the Maronite Lebanese-American community have distinguished themselves in all walks of life, including the Arts, Business, Education, Entertainment, Government, Medicine, Journalism, the Military, Religion and Science; and,
WHEREAS, the Maronite Lebanese-American community has become justifiably famous for the quality of its cuisine of which they will offer evidence of its culinary achievements at its annual Lebanese Food Festival on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, September 12, 13 and 14, 2014 at Our Lady of Victory Maronite Catholic Church located at 1000 Lindsay Road in Carnegie; and,                             
WHEREAS, in Lebanon, eating is directly related to family hence the festival will be a fun gathering of family and friends with live entertainment by Tony Mikhael, dancing and of course Lebanese food such as Kibbee, Grape Leaves, Hummus, Lamb Kabob and Spinach, Feta Pies and much more; and,
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend and honor the Lebanese-American community of Our Lady of Victory Maronite Catholic Church for the service to the community; and,
