WHEREAS, Citiparks Aquatic Division is responsible for the 18 outdoor pools, one indoor pool and the five Spray Parks located across the City of Pittsburgh; and,
WHEREAS, Citiparks offers a variety of swim classes such as the infant/preschool swimming lessons, Children's learn-to- swim for ages 6-15, Adults Learn-To-Swim for ages 16 and above, and free Learn-To-Swim Camp for children 6-15; and,
WHEREAS, in addition to classes, Citiparks offers Adult Lap Swim, Water Aerobics, Senior Water Aerobics, Swim Teams and an annual Water Carnival; and,
WHEREAS, these programs are not possible without the dedicated Lifeguards, who are required to go through rigorous training to possess current certificates in Lifeguarding, First Aid, Automated External Defibrillator, and CPR and must also know how to test the water for proper chlorine and pH levels, operate pool filters and pumps and keep the pools clean; and,
WHEREAS, we would like to recognize the Citiparks Lifeguards who dedicated additional time and expertise to coach this year's swim teams which competed at Highland Park on Saturday, August 2, 2014:

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby acknowledge and commend the Lifeguards and staff of the Citiparks Aquatics Division for maintaining a safe swimming environment for the residents of the City of Pittsburgh; and,
