WHEREAS, in 2012 the Northside Leadership Conference organized the first ever Northside Sandwich Week to showcase some of the tastiest and most creative sandwiches that the Northside had to offer, and to encourage people to support local businesses; and
WHEREAS, following the successes in years past, Northside Sandwich Week is back, and starting on June 20, 2014, participating restaurants will compete for the title of “Northside Sandwich King”; and
WHEREAS, all of the sandwiches will be available at the Sandwich Sampler, which will be held at the Allegheny Elks Lodge #339 on June 26, 2014, from 6:00-9:00PM; and
WHEREAS, the restaurants and sandwiches to be featured in the 2014 Northside Sandwich Week are:

Modern Café -- Gyro Melt
Bistro To Go -- Courtyard Chicken Sandwich
BZ Bar & Grill -- The Castro
Penn Brewery -- Braised Shortrib Slider
Chateau Café & Cakery -- Iron City Beef
Peppi's -- Blazin' Saddle
James Street Gastropub -- Jamaican me James Street
Max's Allegheny Tavern -- Pulled Pork Bar-B-Que
Atria's -- Roasted Chicken Wrap
Benjamin's -- Candied Jalapeno Bacon Burger
SoHo -- Spicy BLT Wrap
Mullen's -- Ultimate Steel Steak Sandwich
Arde -- The Arde Panino
El Burro -- Carnitas Rolled Tacos
WHEREAS, the 2014 Northside Sandwich Week will feature the following celebrity judges:
Etta Cox - a local jazz singer and a teacher at CAPA
Jon Delano - political analyst for KDKA-TV
Julia Gongaware - an accomplished eater at EatPGH
Louis Lipps - former wide receiver for the Pittsburgh Steelers
Joey Spehar - host of WYEP's Morning Mix radio show
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize the Northside Leadership Conference, and all of the participants in the 2014 Northside Sandwich Week for making such a unique and enjoyable event possible; and
