Title
Resolution authorizing the Mayor and the Director of Public Safety to enter into a Reimbursement Agreement with the Fraternal Order of Police, Fort Pitt Lodge No. 1 ("FOP"), to reimburse the FOP in the amount of $95,000.00 for its payment for professional services relating to the legal defense of City police officers.

WHEREAS, the City has entered into a collective bargaining agreement with the FOP effective January 1, 2010 through December 31, 2014 ("2010-2014 CBA");
WHEREAS, one of the terms and conditions of employment under the CBA relates to the City's responsibility to pay the FOP Legal Defense Fund (the "FOPLDF") certain funds to cover reasonable legal fees that an employee incurs as a result of civil or criminal actions brought against him or her as a result of lawful police duties and not otherwise provided for directly by the City; and
WHEREAS, the City has provided a quarterly allotment of Thirty-Four Thousand Five-Hundred Dollars ($34,500) to reimburse the FOP for these fees; and
WHEREAS, the FOP has incurred legal costs in years 2012 and 2013 exceeding the aggregate funds provided to the FOP by the City in the quarterly allotments of $34,500 and for which the FOP has not yet been reimbursed by the City.
Be it resolved by the Council of the City of Pittsburgh as follows:
Section 1. The Mayor and the Director of Public Safety are hereby authorized to enter into a Reimbursement Agreement with the Fraternal Order of Police, Fort Pitt Lodge No. 1 ("FOP") to reimburse it in the amount of Ninety-Five Thousand Dollars ($95,000.00) for the FOP's payment for incurred professional services relating to the legal defense of City police officers. This amount shall be chargeable to and payable from: 11101.53.53517.230000.2014.
