Title: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare, Saturday, May 3, 2014 to be “The Emmaus Community Day of Outstanding Service” in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, The Emmaus Community of Pittsburgh is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing residential homes for persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities; and,  
 
WHEREAS, for more than 25 years, The Emmaus Community has educated the public on the needs surrounding persons with developmental disabilities and has advocated for a productive response to those needs; and,
 
WHEREAS, ever year, The Emmaus Community of Pittsburgh hosts their annual Kentucky Derby Gala to help support their mission and will also announce the winner of the Ken Wagner Award for Outstanding Community Service; and,
 
WHEREAS, this year's recipient of the 2014 Ken Wagner Award for Outstanding Service will be Commander Scott Schubert of the Pittsburgh Police Department, Zone 6 station, for his dedication and commitment to helping others both in his career and beyond; and,
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize the amiable mission of the Emmaus Community of Pittsburgh, and would also like to congratulate Commander Schubert for exemplifying qualities of an outstanding leader; and,
