Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby proclaim May 10, 2014, as “Bach Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, the Pittsburgh Music Alliance will celebrate one of music's greatest composers, Johann Sebastian Bach, with a one-day music festival to be held on May 10th, 2014 at Calvary Episcopal Church in the City of Pittsburgh; and,
 
WHEREAS, the Pittsburgh Music Alliance consists of five local organizations with established histories: Bach Choir of Pittsburgh, Chatham Baroque, Pittsburgh Camerata, Chamber Music Pittsburgh, and Renaissance & Baroque; and,
 
WHEREAS, the festival will span 12 hours, from 10:00AM to 10:00 PM, and will represent the breadth of the famed composer's works, including vocal, instrumental, and concertos; and,
 
WHEREAS, the festival will raise awareness about the exceptional music talents possessed by the people of the City of Pittsburgh; and,
 
WHEREAS, the work of this collaborative effort is valuable towards promoting musical, historical, and cultural understanding.
