Title: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize and commend Lois McCafferty for her stellar achievements serving the Brookline neighborhood and the City of Pittsburgh as a whole; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby proclaim Sunday, April 27th, 2014 as “Lois McCafferty Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Lois McCafferty has been a tireless worker and an enthusiastic advocate for her neighborhood for many years, and her attention to detail combines with her love of Brookline to make sure that everything is done to perfection, no matter how small the detail; and,  
 
WHEREAS, she displays a seemingly endless fountain of positive energy and enthusiasm that, when applied to a project or cause, benefits everyone involved, keeping the needs of local residents and neighborhood organizations in mind to advocate for positive change and pragmatic solutions; and,  
 
WHEREAS, Lois has been a board member for the Brookline Chamber of Commerce (BCC) and the South Pittsburgh Development Corporation (SPDC) for many years and has served as a vital connection to projects going on around the neighborhood, especially the reconstruction of Brookline Boulevard; and,  
 
WHEREAS, Lois has lent a helping hand to many community events including the Taste of Brookline, the Brookline Breezefest, Brookline Unveiled, the Autumn Moon Festival, and the Brookline Sidewalk Sale, and also worked to benefit youth by volunteering at Carrick High School and with local girls softball teams; and,  
 
WHEREAS, regardless of how demanding her commitments might be, Lois manages to be both effervescent and kind to everyone that she encounters, building quality relationships and gaining a great deal of respect along the way; and,  
 
WHEREAS, Lois is a valued asset to the Brookline neighborhood, motivating all of us to better serve our own communities.
