Title: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Friday, May 2, 2014 to be “Pittsburgh Fringe Festival Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, the idea of the Fringe Festival originated in Edinburgh, Scotland, giving the opportunity for street performers or improve groups to showcase their talent, and quickly spreading worldwide to other cities, making it one of the largest arts festivals in the world; and,
 
WHEREAS, in its inaugural year and modeled after the Edinburgh Festival, the Pittsburgh Fringe Festival promises to showcase new, engaging, and exciting performances; and,
 
WHEREAS, the Pittsburgh Fringe Festival supports adventurous and exploratory artists by showcasing their unjudged and uncensored artistic expression in a professional environment; and,
 
WHEREAS, through a dedicated team of professionals, led by Dan Stiker, and volunteers, the Festival will not only provide audiences with a unique experience, but will continue with the education, workshops, discussions, and forums; and,
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh is honored to have such a world renown festival come to our city, giving the opportunity for all communities to come together and enjoy the show; and,
