Title: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize and honor the important work of Comcast on its 13th Comcast Cares Day for its dedicated service toward the improvement of our communities, and does hereby declare Saturday, April 26, 20134 to be “Comcast Cares Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Comcast remains an active, committed and engaged member of the City of Pittsburgh as demonstrated by years of Comcast Cares Day in neighborhoods throughout the city; and
WHEREAS, Comcast supports the core American value of volunteerism through partnerships, grants and service activities that empower individuals and organized communities; and
WHEREAS, Comcast will continue its demonstrated commitment to community outreach by holding its 13th annual Comcast Care Day on April 26th, 2014; and
WHEREAS, Comcast Cares Day is one of the largest national days of service, that brings employees, families, friends, and community partners together for a common purpose celebrating an active, committed and engaged community in neighborhoods throughout the City of Pittsburgh; and
Whereas, on Saturday, April 26th, 2014, Comcast, in partnership with Stanton Heights Neighborhood Association, will hold a community cleanup of greenspace located in Stanton Heights, which will be the site of the planned Stanton Heights Contemplative Park, a project spearheaded by the Stanton Heights Neighborhood Association and located on land provided for use by Comcast to commemorate the memory of three Pittsburgh police officers, Paul J. Scuillo, Eric Kelly, and Stephan Mayhle, who tragically lost their lives in the line of duty in 2009; and
WHEREAS, Comcast Cares Day promotes a spirit of corporate responsibility thanks to the hard work, dedication and service of almost 2,000 Comcast volunteers throughout the Pittsburgh region, many of them residents in the City of Pittsburgh and Allegheny County, and, this year, will help to provide a community space to memorialize the memories of three Pittsburgh heroes; and
