Title: BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Monday, April 14, 2014, to be “DaMarra Chanel Day” in the City of Pittsburgh. WHEREAS, while attending Chartiers Elementary School  DaMarra Chanel Underwood, a Chartiers City resident, was noticed by her third grade music teacher as having an exceptional voice and picked her for the All City Choir and she was also asked to sing "I Believe I Can Fly" at the school's fifth-grade graduation;  and,
 
WHEREAS, at 11 years old, DaMarra sang on the Bobby Jones Gospel Show and has been singing ever since with performances on The Pittsburgh Today's Show, for First Lady Mrs. Michelle Obama during the G20 Summit, at a welcoming reception for Steelers Coach Mike Tomlin, at the Pittsburgh Great Race and Light up Night, and even for The Trinity Broadcast Network, just to name a few; and,
 
WHEREAS,  DaMarra released her first CD, a 12-track disc of old gospel songs titled "Ol' Skool Gospel" and on a few selections, she not only sings the lead, but also provides backup soprano, alto and tenor voices; and,
 
WHEREAS,  her parents Howard and Gloria Underwood, are very supportive of her endeavors;  DaMarra's father is her manager and her mother helps select her performance wardrobe and handles the details of each of her engagements; and,
 
WHEREAS, DaMarra is a senior at Howard University where she is majoring in Music Education maintaining a 4.0 GPA; she is a soprano section leader for the University's Choir and a member of the Howard Singers and would like to continue her education as a law student specializing in entertainment law; and,
 
WHEREAS,   she is an active member of the Metropolitan Baptist Church and a positive influence in the community, and wishes to use her music to draw people closer to God; and,
 
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED  that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend DaMarra Chanel Underwood for all of her accomplishments and continued success in all she sets out to do; and,
