Body
WHEREAS, the Pittsburgh region fares worse than similar cities on indicators related to women's health, with fewer women accessing healthcare and higher rates of breast cancer; and,

WHEREAS, across the United States, some groups of women are seeing unexpected increases in mortality and earlier deaths than previous generations due a lack of economic security, safety, and health care access; and,

WHEREAS, even impressive technological advances in medicine can no longer countermand the overall poor health of the population for people suffering from lack of resources; and,

WHEREAS, several local legislators are leading the effort to address the real concerns and issues affecting the health and well-being of women in western Pennsylvania today; and,

WHEREAS, Representative Dan Frankel has founded and co-leads the Women's Health Caucus, and Senator Matt Smith and Representatives Erin Molchany are prime sponsors of bills in the Pennsylvania Agenda for Women's Health; a bundle of bi-partisan, bicameral, impactful legislation that will help western Pennsylvanians achieve economic stability and live healthier, longer lives; and,

WHEREAS, seven bills have been introduced thus far to help address the foundational issues that impact women's health: safety, economic security, and healthcare access; and,

WHEREAS, by addressing these issues and pushing for the proactive, pro-women, pro-family legislation that comprises the PA Agenda for Women's Health, local women can achieve economic stability and live healthier, longer lives.
