Title: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize, congratulate, and humbly thank Constance Miskis Zatek for her 41 years of dedicated service to the City of Pittsburgh, and wish her peace, rest, and joy throughout her much deserved retirement. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare, Tuesday, March 18, 2014 to be “Constance Miskis Zatek Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Constance Miskis Zatek has been a part of the Commission on Human Relations since 1973; and,
 
WHEREAS,  Constance is a native of the South Side of Pittsburgh, the same neighborhood where her grandmother "Babka" immigrated from Slovakia, and where she and her husband, Paul Zatek, raised her four children, Ondrejana, Danitza, Paul-Vincent Timothy and Katya; and,
 
WHEREAS, Constance is a dedicated community member and role model, contributing to numerous events that support the arts and culture of the City of Pittsburgh as a participant and instructor of Lithuanian and Slovak dance troupes, an active member of Prince of Peace Roman Catholic Church, a valued contributor to the International Pittsburgh Folk Festival, and supporter of several charities such as the diabetes walk and Saint Vincent De Paul. She is dedicated to preserving, promoting, and appreciating her heritage and customs, those of other ethnic groups in Pittsburgh, and furthermore proudly represents the City of Pittsburgh throughout her travels in Europe; and,
 
WHEREAS, Constance has been a leader and dedicated public servant in her work as Secretary to the Commission on Human Relation, aiding in endeavoring to endure fair and equal access to all persons who work, live, and visit the City of Pittsburgh; and,
