WHEREAS, Future City is a competition that challenges students to imagine, design and build the cities of the future; and
WHEREAS, students from three dozen middle schools across the region gathered at Carnegie Music Hall on January 18th for Pittsburgh's 15th annual Future City <http://futurecity.org/> competition where the theme was "transportation;" and
WHEREAS, St. Bede School, located in Point Breeze, has been an important part of the Pittsburgh community since its establishment in 1922; and
WHEREAS, the location of the school and the strong commitment within the community and parish to Catholic education has contributed to the development of a diverse faith-filled elementary school; and
WHEREAS, St. Bede won first place in the Pittsburgh Regional Future City Competition at Carnegie Music Hall, competing against more than 40 schools from the region; and
WHEREAS, St. Bede students are headed to the National Future City competition in Washington DC.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize the students of St. Bede School for their accomplishment as winners of the Pittsburgh Regional Future City Competition, and wish them luck and support in the national Future City competition.
