Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend the City of Pittsburgh Bureau of Police Narcotics Unit for serving the city residents and thank the residents of the City of Pittsburgh who provided the information that led to these investigations; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Tuesday, January 21, 2014, to be “Pittsburgh Bureau of Police Narcotics Unit Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, City of Pittsburgh Bureau of Police Narcotics Unit ended an eight-month investigation that began in April with drug related complaints from citizens in Carrick, Knoxville, Hazelwood, Elliott and Sheraden; and,
 
WHEREAS, investigations led to numerous search warrants whereby Narcotics Detectives were able to make a significant impact against illegal drug trafficking; and,
 
WHEREAS, within the Carrick/Knoxville neighborhoods there were 59 arrests, and 15 firearms, 2 vehicles, $106,892 cash, and drugs with a street value of $107,535 seized; and,
 
WHEREAS, within the Sheraden/Elliott neighborhoods there were 47 arrests, and 8 firearms, $12,553 cash, and drugs with a street value of $107,535 seized; and,    
 
WHEREAS, within the Hazelwood neighborhood there were 16 arrests, and 3 firearms, $2,984 cash and drugs with a street value of $25,065 seized; and,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend the City of Pittsburgh Bureau of Police Narcotics Unit for serving the city residents and thank the residents of the City of Pittsburgh who provided the information that led to these investigations; and,
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Tuesday, January 21, 2014, to be "Pittsburgh Bureau of Police Narcotics Unit  Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.
