Title: THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Tuesday, January 21, 2014 to be Virginia “Ginny” Imburgia Day in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Virginia “Ginny” Imburgia was born in 1950 and raised in the Pittsburgh neighborhood of Beechview, where she attended St. Catherine's School; and

WHEREAS, Ginny graduated from Bishop Dominic High School on the North Side and later took up her first job with Kelly Girl Service, Inc., a temporary service agency that trained Ginny in office work and key punch; and

WHEREAS, Ginny married Anthony Imburgia in 1970 and raised two children, Anthony and Angela, never missing any of their sports and activities, even coaching her daughter's softball team for two years; and

WHEREAS, Ginny was also one of the community leaders who first chartered the Beechview Women of the Moose, Chapter 2338, in 2006, being named former Senior Regent; and

WHEREAS, with a vast knowledge of both classic authors and current bestsellers, Ginny was invaluable to the patrons of the Brookline branch of the Carnegie Library, where she worked for 25 years; and

WHEREAS, Ginny worked for many years with children in the community, coordinating their summer reading programs, training them on using the library's computers, and teaching some to read; and

WHEREAS, in recognition of Ginny's service to the community and her devotion to the library and its patrons-especially to children-the Carnegie Library will be affixing a dedication bookplate to a book in the library's Children's Collection; and

WHEREAS, the Brookline library has also created a display that features fiction books and films that Ginny particularly enjoyed and nonfiction books about things she loved, such as riding motorcycles and horses, Italy, and the history of the Battle of Gettysburg; and

WHEREAS, for decades, Ginny was a devoted mother, wife, Beechview community leader, and trusted librarian at the Brookline branch of the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh.
