Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize The Children's Home's continuous excellence in establishing and strengthening families for 120 years, and Rick Sebak's incredible contribution to Pittsburgh through his many cherished documentaries; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare November 1, 2013 to be “The Children's Hometown Hero Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, The Children's Home, established in 1893, strives to promote the health and well-being of infants and children through services designed to establish and strengthen families; and
 
WHEREAS, The Lemieux Family Center, built in 2007, creates a sense of home and comfort that allows for special time for all children and families; and
WHEREAS, The Child's Way day care continues to provide children with consistent medical care while incorporating education, development, and therapy into daily activities since 1998; and
 
WHEREAS, The Second Annual Hometown Hero Luncheon will be hosted on November 1, 2013 to raise funds for The Children's Home's three programs: Adoption, Child's Way, and the Pediatric Specialty Hospital; and
 
WHEREAS, The Children's Home will be honoring Rick Sebak for his work in commemorating Pittsburgh's unique history and culture through the "Pittsburgh History Series;" and
 
WHEREAS, Rick Sebak is a Emmy award-winning film director and producer who has worked for over twenty five years for WQED and PBS stations; and
 
WHEREAS, Rick Sebak first created the documentary, "Kennywood Memories," in 1988 and has since written and produced over twenty films for WQED's "Pittsburgh History Series."
