WHEREAS, Moose International is an international organization of men and women, dedicated to caring for young and old, bringing communities together and celebrating life; and,
WHEREAS, though the Moose fraternal organization was founded in the late 1800s with the modest goal of offering men an opportunity to gather socially, it was reinvented during the first decade of the 20th century into an organizational dynamo of men and women who set out to build a city that would brighten the futures of thousands of children in need all across North America; and,
WHEREAS, founded on the principles of fraternalism and charitable works, the Hays Lodge received its Charter to Moose International on October 27, 1913, has a current membership of 240 members and is one of the top Lodges in the district and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize and commend the Loyal Order of Moose, Hays 1436 for its good work and congratulates the Hays Lodge for 100 years of continuous community service ; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Sunday, October 27, 2013, to be " LOYAL ORDER OF MOOSE, HAYS LODGE 1436 DAY" in the City of Pittsburgh.
