Title: THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh, commends the PITTSBURGH CULTURAL TRUST for all they do to develop and promote Pittsburgh's renowned Cultural District, thereby making Pittsburgh a better place to live, work, and play; and, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Tuesday, October 29th, 2013 to be Pittsburgh Cultural Trust Day in the City of Pittsburgh and encourages all citizens to support and attend the Cultural District's diverse events and programs.

WHEREAS, the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust brought Florentijn Hoffman's Rubber Duck Project to Pittsburgh and the United States for the very first time as part of the Trust's Pittsburgh International Festival of Firsts; and,
 
WHEREAS, over 100,000 people attended the Rubber Duck Bridge Party on September 27, 2013 to welcome the Rubber Duck to Pittsburgh; and,
 
WHEREAS, over one million people visited the Rubber Duck during its stay from September 28 through October 20, 2013; and,
 
WHEREAS, it is estimated that the Rubber Duck Project has generated tens of millions of dollars in direct spending in Pittsburgh; and,  
 
WHEREAS, the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust, the Pittsburgh International Festival of Firsts, and the Rubber Duck Project have garnered local, regional, national, and international attention to the city of Pittsburgh as a prime destination for arts and entertainment; and,
 
WHEREAS, the Rubber Duck Project has brought about countless smiles, lifted our spirits, and excited the child in all of us; and,
