Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize and honors the late Thomas H. Parris for his unselfish contributions to the citizens in the neighborhood of Sheraden; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Thursday, October 10, 2013, to be “Thomas H. Parrish Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Thomas H. Parrish was one of the founders of the Sheraden Baseball Association which was organized in 1952 and is one of the oldest organized baseball associations in the City of Pittsburgh; and
 
WHEREAS, the late Mr. Parrish is survived by his wife Mariam, his five children; Nancy, Thomas, Denise, Bob and Becky, thirteen grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; and,  
 
WHEREAS, Mr. Parrish was an avid baseball lover who enjoyed watching his nephew, Lance Parrish, play professional baseball, who has even played for the Pittsburgh Pirates; and,
 
WHEREAS,  in addition to his love for baseball, he loved being involved with people; he joined the Kiwanis Club of Sheraden in 2003 where he loved to greet guests at the Kiwanis pancake breakfasts, and he was the Treasurer of the McKees Rocks Elks Club; and frequented many businesses in Sheraden; and,
 
WHEREAS, as a retiree, he continued to take great pride in his craft retaining his membership in the Ironworkers Local No. 3; and,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize and honors the late Thomas H. Parris for his unselfish contributions to the citizens in the neighborhood of Sheraden; and,
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Thursday, October 10, 2013, to be "Thomas H. Parrish Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.
