Title: THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend ALPFA Pittsburgh for encouraging and promoting Latino leadership among students and professionals and congratulate ALPFA Pittsburgh on its fifth anniversary celebration to be held on October 1, 2013. THEREFORE BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare October 1, 2013 to be ALPFA Pittsburgh Day in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, with a mission to create opportunity, add value, and build relationships for its members, the community, and its business partners, while expanding Latino leadership in the global workforce, ALPFA is the largest Latino association for business professionals and students, with over 22,000 members and 41 chapters nationwide; and
 
WHEREAS, in 2008, ALPFA Pittsburgh was launched at the Deloitte offices Downtown, with President Henry Ventura at the helm; and
 
WHEREAS, today ALPFA Pittsburgh is supported by members from a number of local organizations and companies, including Deloitte, BNY Mellon, KPMG, PwC, PNC, PPG, Heinz, Highmark, Erie Insurance, and more; and
 
WHEREAS, ALPFA Pittsburgh is celebrating its fifth anniversary on October 1, 2013 during National Hispanic Heritage Month; and
WHEREAS, ALPFA Pittsburgh's celebration will take place at the Clemente Museum at 3339 Penn Avenue on October 1, 2013 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.
