• Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize the Campus School of Carlow University for their dedication to training and preparing the educators of the future and for providing high-quality, innovative, and creative educational programs in the Pittsburgh region; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare September 17th, 2013 to be “Campus School of Carlow University Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Carlow University was founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1929, offering both undergraduate and graduate programs, dedicated to learner-centered education at the collegiate levels and at the elementary school level in the Campus School of Carlow University; and

WHEREAS, the Campus School of Carlow University is an independent, coeducational, Catholic day school for Pre-Kindergarten through grade eight, and a Montessori Preschool program espousing Judeo-Christian values, featuring a strong comprehensive core curriculum and championing a holistic approach to learning that develops the creativity and unique gifts of each child; and

WHEREAS, the Campus School of Carlow University provides opportunities for college students preparing for elementary school teaching to observe and engage in teaching and enthusiastic learning; and

WHEREAS, the Campus School of Carlow University celebrated its 50^th Anniversary Saturday, September 14^th with a Mass of Thanksgiving led by Bishop David Zubik celebrating all of the blessings bestowed on the faculty, students, parents, and children during the school's history; and
