WHEREAS, Marian Streiff has been a respected and valued employee of Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh for over 27 years; and,
WHEREAS, she began her career as a staff librarian and was promoted to Branch Manager at the Beechview Branch until 1999 when she assumed the additional responsibility of managing the Brookline Branch; and,
WHEREAS, in 2004, Marian was promoted into her current position of Department Head at the Mount Washington location where she serves the community with her passion for promoting and encouraging life-long literacy; and,
WHEREAS, Ms. Streiff has served on many committees within the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh (CLP) and within the community; she has designed and presented numerous outstanding programs and various outreach functions and she recently completed a CLP Leadership Development Program; and,
WHEREAS, for the past six years, Marian has been serving the youth at the REAM Recreation Center where she is considered the city's best librarian running all of the art and educational programs where she has the gift to motivate children enough to join the Library's book club; and,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend Ms. Marian Streiff for her dedication and passion to literacy in the City of Pittsburgh by providing exceptional service to the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh, REAM Recreation Center and surrounding communities; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Monday, August 19, 2013, to be "Marian Streiff Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.
