Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend the 2013 Women of Distinction honorees; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Saturday, August 24, 2013, to be “Women of Distinction Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, the Women of Distinction Annual Dinner began in 2006, by the Pennsylvania Baptist State Convention, Inc. and the Western Region of the Women's Ministry, here in Pittsburgh, PA. The Western Region Ministry has a continuing commitment to work tirelessly to improve the spiritual position and condition of women and children; and,
 
WHEREAS, their focus is directed toward missionary, educational, evangelistic and human rights endeavors especially for women and children enmeshed in poverty. Each year a dinner is held to honor (6) representatives of local churches. These women have a strong commitment and dedication towards the enrichment of their church and community. They are being honored for following the doctrine of the Women's Ministry which is to be an "Ambassador for Christ" as noted in II Corinthians 5:20; and,
 
WHEREAS, the women who are being honored with award presentations at the Women of Distinction's Annual Dinner 2013 are Sister Jerryann Allen of Metropolitan Baptist Church, Sister Geraldine Hill of New Jerusalem Baptist Church, Sister Colleen Turner of Emanuel Baptist Church, Reverend Marilyn Black of Metropolitan Baptist Church, Sister Virginia Palmer of Sixth Mount Zion Church, Sister Marcia S. Anderson of Nazarene Baptist Church; and,
 
WHEREAS, the women being honored participate in missionary outreach by working with food banks, youth programs, or holding an office in their church. They put in countless hours of service to their community while maintaining their professional careers and supporting their families; and,
