WHEREAS, Mary A. and David C. Gouch were married in Georgia on August 23, 1953. In 1958 they relocated to the City of Pittsburgh, where they briefly lived in the Hill District before finally settling in Larimer for the past 50 years; and,
WHEREAS, Mary and David are the proud parents of four children: Gale, Robbie, Angela, and Nina. They also have 12 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. While raising their own children they found enough love in their home to nurture 60 children through the foster care program in Pittsburgh. Although not their biological offspring they consider all 60 foster children to be their own. They keep in contact with one another and remain close; and,
WHEREAS, Mary is a retired Registered Nurse from West Penn Hospital, and David is retired from United Airlines. Both are active members of Sanctuary of Praise Church in Homewood, and enjoy spending time with their grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mary still makes time to serve her community by working with children while volunteering with East End Cooperative Ministries where she is affectionately known as "Grandma Mary" to all; and,
WHEREAS, On Sunday, August 25, 2013 their family will honor the happy couple with a 60th wedding anniversary celebration. Dinner and a reception will be held at Diversity Hall in Homewood on Kelly Street from 2:00pm-9:00pm; and,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby celebrate Mary & David's 60 years of matrimony; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Sunday, August 25, 2013, to be " Mary A. and David C. Gouch Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.
