Title: THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh recognizes the abovementioned alumni as outstanding ambassadors from Carrick High and for the South Pittsburgh community. THEREFORE BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Sunday, August 11, 2013 to be the Ninth Annual Distinguished Carrick High Alumni Day in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, on Sunday, August 11, 2013, eight graduates of Carrick High, and a retired Carrick High Music Director, will be honored at the Ninth Annual Carrick High Alumni Association's Distinguished Alumni installation; and
 
WHEREAS, the group to be honored includes:
 
*Butler County Commissioner A. Dale Pinkerton, class of 1959
*David A. Bielski, a retired union organizer who represented many municipal union        members in northwestern Pennsylvania, class of 1962
*U.S. Navy Lt. Commander and retired Brentwood High teacher Eleanor H. Berge, class of February 1942
*World War II hero U.S. Army Captain James E. Fowler, who served at Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941 and at the Battle of the Bulge in Belgium, class of 1940
*Renowned church organist and music teacher Carol A. Forster Coles, class of 1957
*All-Star educator and retired middle school teacher Harold F. Marks, Jr., class of 1965
*CEO and president of his leadership coaching and development company Rande S. Somma of Bloomfield, Michigan, class of 1969
*Paul "Bucky" Harrison, director of the Carrick High Alumni Association for 20 years, class of 1948
*And retired, award-winning Carrick High Marching Band, Concert Band, and Jazz Band music director, orchestra conductor, and teacher James E. Kraus, who began the Steel Drum Band and the Carrick High Bagpipe Program during his tenure at Carrick High for 22 years; and
 
WHEREAS, the abovementioned will be honored as Distinguished Alumni of Carrick High at the Ninth Annual Carrick High Alumni Association Luncheon on August 11, 2013.
