Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize Barbara McNees for her contributions to both the City and the broader Pittsburgh region; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare August 5, 2013 to be “Barbara McNees Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Barbara McNees, President of the Greater Pittsburgh Chamber of Commerce and member of the Allegheny Conference Executive team, has for decades been a tireless advocate for the City and the region; and
 
WHEREAS, under McNees' leadership the Chamber has proactively worked to strengthen the bonds between business and government and has strived for civic improvement, over time forming close ties between the Chamber and the Allegheny Conference; and
 
WHEREAS, the Chamber and McNees have fought to both increase investment in the region and to foster a more genial business climate; and
 
WHEREAS, McNees has worked tirelessly to streamline and modernize the government in Allegheny County by encouraging home rule and row office reform; and
 
WHEREAS, McNees, during her time with the Commonwealth Financing Authority, successfully contributed to the creation of thousands of sites ready for business investment; and
 
WHEREAS, McNees will step down as president of the Chamber on August 15th and her presence will be greatly missed.
