Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend Logan Byers for the work he does in making the City of Pittsburgh a better place to live and his parents, Paul and Barb Byers for the support they have given him; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Monday, August 5, 2013, to be “Logan Byers Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Logan Byers is a ten year old boy residing in Sheraden who was tired of the litter on his street and in his neighborhood ; and,
 
WHEREAS, Logan began by writing a letter to the Chief of Police and sent copies to Mayor Luke Ravenstahl and Councilwoman Smith, who set up a meeting with Logan and the city's anti-litter coordinator, Missy Rosenfeld; and,
 
WHEREAS, with the help of Missy Rosenfeld from the Mayor's Office, Logan launched Logan's Litter League and those who join the league are asked to pledge not to litter and to pick up at least one piece of litter every day and to recycle; and,
 
WHEREAS, Logan's Litter League adopted a Redd Up Zone in his neighborhood and has scheduled four cleanups this year which began in the spring and after the first two scheduled cleanups this year, Logan's Litter League has collected 12 bags of garbage, 2 tires, a baby stroller and furniture; and,    
 
WHEREAS, in addition to being busy with the league, Logan, and the Pittsburgh Resource Council/Don't Trash My Turf, made a TV commercial and appeared on the Pittsburgh Today Live Show; and,
 
WHEREAS, Logan will be entering the 5th grade in the fall attending Carmalt Academy of Science and Technology and the Pittsburgh Gifted Center; and,
